A Prayer for Our Community

Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd of the Sheep, we pray for those who give their lives to the care of animals, and whose livelihood depends on the well-being of creatures in their care. At a time of crisis in the farming community, we remember the loss of life and the hardship brought about by the feed crisis. We pray that in the providence of God the sun will shine, the rain will fall and the grass will grow and God’s creatures will be fed. We give thanks for the sense of local community support, the willingness to offer practical help and the attentiveness of neighbour to neighbour. This we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Dear Parents/Carers,

With tough times on the land for many of our families it is timely to reflect on the support and friendship that we are able to extend. I encourage you to look for opportunities where you can provide support for each other, even if this is as simple as a chat and a cuppa. Please support the St Mary’s Drought Assistance Fundraiser next Tuesday where money raised will be sent to the Wellington branch of St Vincent de Paul.

Bishop McKenna from our Bathurst Diocese, in his recent media release is encouraging families who are in difficult financial circumstances in the present climate to approach their school for support. Please take the time to read his media release in this newsletter.

Congratulations on the performances of our students in the Wellington Eisteddfod over recent weeks. The hard work, practice and dedication of our teachers is evident in quality entries. We look forward to the vocal and instrumental section commencing next week

Last week our Secondary Discovery evening was well attended by parents and students. An excellent presentation on learning pathways for our students was followed by a discovery tour of areas including Music, Food Technology, Industrial Technology, Art, Science and Computing. St Mary’s offers a myriad of opportunities for our students. Make an appointment for a school visit if you would like to learn more.
